Who is Umm Sakinah?

Our journey began with a simple, but deeply personal conviction: that the way we present ourselves in prayer should reflect the beauty, dignity, and intention of the act itself.

For years, I struggled to find prayer garments that felt both beautiful and practical pieces that honored the sacredness of standing before Allah. What I found often felt rushed, poorly made, or lacking in design. And I knew there had to be something more.

After stepping away from my career in leadership, I entered a new chapter one that called me back to something I had not touched in years: sewing.

In returning to this craft, I also returned to a part of my story that has always lived quietly within me. My mother was a professional seamstress, a woman of skill and artistry, who passed away when I was just 12 years old. This work is, in many ways, a continuation of her legacy—a way of honoring what she left behind.

Each garment is created with intention, care, and respect for the sacred space of prayer. Our goal is to offer Muslim women pieces that are not only modest and functional, but also beautiful, dignified, and reflective of the moment they are worn for.

Because prayer is not ordinary.

And what we wear for it should not be either.

“O children of Adam, wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer…” (7:31)

A beautiful reminder that how we present ourselves in worship carries meaning, intention, and respect.
